Jessica Van der Veen is an Canadian film and TV actress possibly best known for her roles in such TV shows as "Family Law," "Highlander," "Wiseguy," "The Commish" and the 2000s version of "MacGyver."
Not much is known about her life, but it is known she studied acting at the Banff School of Fine Arts, and completed her BA in Theatre at UBC. She has since acted and directed for twenty-seven years in film, theatre and television, mostly in Canadian TV and Hollywood series filmed in Canada. Her theatre credits include "17 Stories," "Hot Flashes" "Ever Loving," "The Three Sisters" and "Floating Rhoda and the Glue Man."
Van der Veen's selected co-writing and directing credits include "The Waltonsteins," "The Shadowbox," Scary Stories," "Emma's Song" and "The Triangle Factory Fire Project." Van der Veen and her writing partner won Best Screenplay at Beverly Hills Film Festival for their feature script, "Emma's Song.. Their inspirational internet series for early teens, "'Verse," won its young host a Youth Now award.
Jessica also built a successful career as an acting teacher in Vancouver, teaching at Gastown Actors' Studio. She also teaches Acting Technique and Acting for the Camera at the Canadian College of Performing Arts in Victoria British Columbia, one of Canada's Premier training schools for multi-talented performers. She is also the co-owner of CAST Victoria (Coastal Acting Services Team) providing coaching and taping services to professional actors across North America, in person and via Skype.
Van der Veen also works as coaches on film sets, having provided career counselling to young performers, such as Kelly Rowan, Sarah Chalke Alison Somerville and many several others across Canada and the United States.
